How do I Transfer Documents from Teams Chats to Teams Channels?

Select the file you wish to share into a Team from a chat. 

1. Click the three dots next to the date. 
   
   
    
2.  Click Copy Link: 
   
   
    
3. Successful copying of the link will show a popup: 
   
   
    
4. Navigate to the location where you'd like to share the file link.
    
5. Click into the message entry line (Reply, Start a Post, etc), then right click, then click paste.
   
   
    
6. Click Send. 
   The link will appear (with no preview,) like this:
    

1. As above, select files: 
   
   
2. Select the files to download (in this case, multiple files may be selected)
    
   
3. Click the download link: 
   Your file will either prompt you for a download location, or download to the location set as your default in Teams. Learn how to change your download location here.

To upload these files back to a specific team: 

1. Navigate to the Team you wish to upload the files to. 
2. Click the + sign at the far right of the text message line: 
   
   
3. Click Attach file: 
   
   
4. Click Upload from this device: 
   
   
5. This will open a standard file selection menu. Navigate to where your files are located, and click on the desired file.
   Note: Holding CTRL while clicking will allow you to select multiple files for upload.
6. Click open. The files being transferred will show upload progress.
7. Once upload progress has completed, click the send button.
