Touch Screen Panels

Generic touch screen panel Rooms controlled by touch screen panels are equipped with one or two projectors, and a combination of the following:

Built-in PC
HDMI and/or VGA connections for personal devices
Document camera
Via Go wireless collaboration
Video conferencing equipment (cameras and overhead microphones)

System On and Off

System On

Touch the panel to wake it and press the ON button.

If the panel is already on, use the Projector Control on the left side to turn the projector on.

Wait 60 seconds for the projector to power up. The system starts with the PC screen displayed.

System Off

Press the System Off button on the touch panel and confirm shutdown.

Wait 60 seconds before powering on again.

Please turn the AV System off before leaving the room. Sign out of the PC, but do not turn it off.

Use the PC

Move the mouse or press a keyboard key to wake the PC. If nothing displays on the monitor:
1. Check if the monitor power is on.
2. Check if the PC power is on.
Sign in with your VIU credentials.
Select PC on the touch panel.
Control volume on the PC and/or right side of the touch panel

Connect your own device

HDMI and/or VGA cables will be located at the instructor station.

Ensure your device is powered on.
Plug the HDMI or VGA cable into your device.
1. If you’re using VGA and require audio, connect the 3.5mm (headphone) cable.
Depending on the panel type, Select HDMI or VGA on the touch panel, or select Laptop, and confirm HDMI or VGA when prompted.

If the picture doesn’t appear:

Windows: Press Windows + P to select a presentation option (usually Duplicate).
Mac: Go to System > Preferences > Display > Arrangement > Mirror.

If you still see a black screen, toggle the Black Screen or Video Mute button on the touch screen.

Use the document camera

Extend the camera arm to point in the desired direction.
Press the power button on the document camera.
Select Cam on the touch panel.
Press the power button twice to turn if off after use.
Return the camera arm to the resting position.

Use Via Go wireless collaboration

Connect your device to the viu-secure wireless network.
Select VIA GO on the touch panel.
Follow prompts on the screen to connect.

Use Zoom with video conferencing equipment

Some rooms are equipped with overhead microphones and a camera(s) for video conferencing.

Sign in on the PC and open Zoom.
Sign in to Zoom with SSO and enter “viu” as your domain.
Enter your VIU Computer Account credentials.
Set the input on the touch panel to PC to see the camera controls.
You may need to turn the camera(s) on with the power button at the top left of the camera controls.
Adjust the camera orientation on the touch panel as needed, or select a preset.
Create or join a meeting.

If you’re experiencing any audio or video issues, go to the Zoom settings and confirm the following:

Video – Camera: EasyIP Mixer.
Audio – Speaker: Extron HDMI
Audio – Microphone: Echo Cancelling Speakerphone

Use Zoom with the Epson document camera

The Epson document camera can be used as a camera and microphone for Zoom video conference calls.

Sign in on the PC and open Zoom.
Power on and position the document camera.
Sign in to Zoom with SSO and enter "viu" as your domain.
Enter your VIU Computer Account credentials.
Create or join a meeting.

If you’re experiencing any audio or video issues, go to the Zoom settings and confirm the following:

Video – Camera: EPSON ELPDC21
- Use the rotate button at the top right of the video preview if necessary.
Audio – Speaker: Extron HDMI
Audio – Microphone: EPSON ELPDC21
