IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) Statistics is a statistical software package which allows for data management and analysis. It can perform a variety of data analysis and presentation functions, including statistical analyses and graphical presentation of data such as plots, frequencies, charts, and lists. - you will not share the license server name with anyone
- you will not post this information on any social media site
Step 1: Install SPSS
Windows

Download SPSS for Windows here: IBM SPSS Statistics 29 Download (employee or student login required)

Double click the file SPSS-current-Windows.exe to start installing SPSS

Click Next until you reach the Software License Agreement. Read the agreement carefully. You must accept the terms to install and use SPSS. * If you agree, select “I accept…”, then click Next.

Continue to Destination Folder. Tell the installer where to install SPSS (usually the default) and click Next.

Proceed to Ready to Install the Program. Click Install, and a progress display will appear.

When the installation completes, this "successful installation" screen will appear. Select the checkbox to "Start IBM SPSS Statistics now", if not already selected. Then click Finish.

macOS
IBM SPSS 29 Mac Installation Instructions
To successfully install SPSS, you must have access to an administrative account for your computer.

With the SPSS installer file downloaded, locate and open it (double-click) in Finder.

Follow the installation steps as prompted until you reach the Software License Agreement. You must accept the terms of the license to install and use SPSS. If you agree, click Continue, then Agree.

Click Install. A progress bar will display during installation.

Please follow the instructions in step 2 to activate the program.
Note: For Mac users, multiple versions of SPSS may be installed on a computer if they are installed in separate folders
Step 2: Activate SPSS
SPSS licensing must be completed after the installation of SPSS software and again every semester for license renewal (licenses expire at the end of each semester). When you installed SPSS, you read and agreed to the terms of the license. To license SPSS, use the SPSS License Authorization Wizard, as described below:

Open SPSS:

Windows: Click on Start and search for "SPSS Statistics", and choose it.

Mac: Open Applications → IBM SPSS Statistics → IBM SPSS Statistics

Click on Launch License Wizard

Proceed through the License Status screen if it is displayed by clicking on Next.

Continue to Product Authorization and select Concurrent user license.

Select Next to continue and enter the licensing server in the License manager server name or IP address field.
Follow this link to obtain the licensing server address

Click Next to continue to the Internet Authorization Status screen and wait for the Authorization succeeded message.

Continue to display the Licensing Completed message and click Finish.
