2SV: I forgot or need to change my Security Key PIN

I need to change my Security Key Pin

Have a VIU provided Security Key and want to change the PIN on it? Here is how:

Windows

1. Insert your Security Key if not already
2. Click Start and type "Sign-in" and click Sign-in options
3. Click Security key and Manage
4. Touch your Security Key when prompted
5. Click Change under 'Security Key PIN'
6. Fill out the boxes and click Ok when done
7. Click Close
8. Close the Sign-in options screen

macOS

You will need to install the Yubico Authenticator on your Mac before you can change your PIN.

Install Yubico Authenticator

You only need to complete this step once and can leave the application installed on your Mac in case you need to use it again.

1. Open the Company Portal / VIU Software Center
2. Search for "Yubico" click Yubico and then click Install

Change your PIN

1. Insert your Security Key if not already
2. Launch the Yubico Authenticator App
3. Click Passkeys
4. Enter your current PIN
5. Click Change PIN
6. Fill out the boxes and click Save when done
7. Close the Yubico Authenticator App

I forgot my Security Key Pin

If you have forgotten your PIN for your Security Key there is unfortunately no way to recover it. Below are instructions on how to reset your Security Key to it's default state where you can set a new PIN. Once your new PIN is setup you will need to re-create all of your passkeys.

Once your Security Key has been reset you will want to open a ticker via Hopper (bottom right corner) asking IT to reset your 2SV so you can setup a new Security Key. Once they have reset your 2SV you can follow the instructions here to setup your Security Key again.

Windows

1. Insert your Security Key
2. Click Start and type "Security Key" and click Set up security key
3. Click Security key and Manage
4. Touch your Security Key when prompted
5. Click Reset
6. Click Proceed
7. Follow the reset instructions
8. Click Done and Close
9. Contact IT and request 2SV be reset on your account because you had to reset your Security Key and need to set it up again

macOS

You will need to install the Yubico Authenticator on your Mac before you can reset your Security Key. If you have it installed already you can skip the first section below.

Install Yubico Authenticator

1. Insert your Security Key
2. Launch the Yubico Authenticator App
3. Click Home
4. Click Factory reset
5. Select FIDO2 and click Reset
6. Follow the instructions to reset your Security Key
7. Click Close and close the Yubico Authenticator App
8. Create a ticket via Hopper requesting 2SV be reset on your account because you had to reset your Security Key and need to set it up again
