How do I change my employee password?

Password Requirements

Using a Strong Password

You are required to use 3 of the following 4 options:

  • upper case letters
  • lower case letters
  • numbers
  • special characters:  !@#$%^&*()_+={}

Please Note:
You should never tell someone else your password (not even a computer technician), as it is the only thing that ensures privacy of your account. You are responsible for how your account is used, so do not let other people have access to it.

Systems Affected

Please note that after changing your VIU account password you will need to update settings on some of the devices that have stored your password:

  • WiFi settings on your mobile phone, tablet, and laptop
  • account settings on your mobile phone
  • account settings in Outlook (if using a personal computer)

Your password will be changed on the following systems:

  • VIU computer account
  • VIU Email
  • VIULearn
  • VIU-Secure Wi-Fi
  • VIU Zoom account
  • Employee Portal
  • Microsoft 365
  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Administrative Systems

Method #1

Go to reset.viu.ca

Method #2

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del, then choose "change a password" when logged on to a VIU computer.
