When the page is edited where the Body content field or the layout is changed, a new revision is create. The revision date, time, editor, and content change is noted. This allows viewing a previous iteration to see changes made over time as well as rolling back to a previous version in case a mistake was made.
Edit the page you wish to archive;
Select the dog-eared icon (Configure) in the lower right-hand corner of the page;
Select "Revisions" to view the revisions for the page;
Multiple revisions can be selected to compare changes.
Archives should only be created for content that is no longer relevant but needs to be kept active on a site.
An active page should never be turned into an archive since it will be indexed in search engines meaning it will be found first in a web search query.
Select "Clone" to create the archive page;
Save/Publish the cloned page, adding "Archive" or the archive year (if there are to be multiple years of archives) to the end of the page title to differentiate it from the page you cloned it from.
The cloned page can either be Published (made public) or Saved (only available to Drupal editors), depending on the audience.
The page you cloned from, the original active page, can now be edited and updated.
