Problem
These instructions are intended to help students who are unable to log into VIU Learn due to an Incorrect User ID or Password error, like the example shown in the image below:

Cause
This error occurs when the user name and password combination entered is incorrect.
VIU Learn verifies your identity using your VIU Student Computer Account credentials, but these credentials can be entered in 2 different ways. You can log in using:

Your VIU Student Record login also uses your student number as a user name, but it is a separate login from your VIU Student Computer Account. To login to VIU Learn, make sure you are using your VIU Student Computer Account password, as you would when checking your VIU student email, connecting to VIU Secure wifi, or logging into a lab or classroom computer on campus.
Solution: Test and Reset Your VIU Student Computer Account Password
To resolve this issue, test your VIU computer account and reset your password if necessary. Do not rely on saved passwords—always type your credentials manually.
Step 1: Test Your Computer Account Login
Step 2: Reset Your Password (If Needed)
- If your password is incorrect, click Forgot my password?
- Follow the steps for self-service password reset to create a new password.
- If prompted, complete two-step verification registration.
Step 3: Confirm Your New Password Works
- Once successfully logged in, sign out and sign back in to ensure the new password works.
Step 4: Log Into VIU Learn
