Overview
You have successfully installed the new GlobalProtect and want to remove the old VIU Tunnel from your network settings.
For details on using, or installing GlobalProtect on your device please see our guide on GlobalProtect.
Issue Description
When you attempt to remove the old VIU Tunnel from your network settings, you are stopped because you do not have the Administrative Rights to do so.
Resolution
At this point you have two options:
- Install Make Me Admin - this will grant you 15 minutes of Administrative Rights which will enable you to successfully remove the old VIU Tunnel from your network settings.
- Leave the old VIU Tunnel "as is" - this will not affect the new GlobalProtect VPN, it is more of a cleanup issue to avoid any operator confusion going forward.
Installation of Make Me Admin:
NOTE #1: ‘Make Me Admin’ is for Windows users only and Mac Users can skip the following steps as you have Administrator Rights by default
Note #2: Depending on the age of your VIU issued laptop, you will have to go to your Software Center (older laptops) or the Company Portal (new laptops) to find the Make Me Admin installation App. Click the following link for a full tutorial on "Make Me Admin"
- Click on the Start Button and type in Software Center or Company Portal. If the app doesn't appear above the search box then try typing in the other app. (see image)
- Once inside the Software Center or Company Portal, scroll down until you find an App called "Make Me Admin"
- Select Make Me Admin, click Install and follow the prompts to install
- Close the software centre
- In the Windows menu search for the Make Me Admin application and select it
- When Make Me Admin opens click “Grant Me Administrator Rights”
- You now have 15 minutes to return to the network settings and remove the old VIU Tunnel
