Scan to Email

Instructions:

  1. Log on to the Multifunction Device, you can do this by either entering your VIU computer account credentials on the Papercut login screen, or by tapping your student card if you have already set it up for tap access. See this article for more details if you haven't setup your student card to login to the printers.
  2. At the home screen tap on the Scan button.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. At the next screen tap on either the Subject field or the Email Address field to change either to suit your needs. If your Papercut account has an email associated it will automatically populate that in this field. Be sure the Email Address is correct before.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Confirm the scan settings on the right side of the screen meet your needs, if you need to alter any of them tap the Settings button then review the options. You can tap the back arrow next to the blue home button at the bottom middle of the screen if you need exit the scan settings screen.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. If you are scanning multiple pages and want to be prompted before the scan is completed and sent tap the Prompt for more Pages checkbox to be asked before your scan is completed.
  6. If you are using the document feeder remove any staples and load your document in the orientation indicated by the images in the feeding area. If you are using the flatbed scanner, open the lid and place your first page.
  7. Tap the Start scanning button when you are ready.


If you get any kind of error stating file size too large you have two options:

  • Scan your document in multiple parts with fewer pages
  • Change the DPI setting to a lower option in the scan settings area (step 4)

Generally we recommend limiting your scanned documents to 20 pages. Any more than that and you become more likely to run into issues with file size limits when your document is emailed.
