As the Spring semester closes, IT is already thinking about classroom and lab software requirements that may be needed for the upcoming Fall semester. To facilitate this process and encourage smooth and seamless program startups, we kindly remind you to reach out to the IT department before June 1st, to discuss your classroom software needs for Fall 2024.
Whether you require specific applications or version updates, the IT Team will work through the summer to have your classroom ready. By contacting us now, we can prioritize the review and preparation of software or alterations necessary for your course delivery.
Please note that due to staffing, budget, and time constraints, some requests may have additional complications to be addressed that have not been an issue in previous years. This makes it more important than ever to advise us of your requested changes or needs as soon as possible. Additionally, requests received after the deadline may not be assessed for implementation until later in the fall which could impact your classroom deliverables.
Here are key points to consider before you submit your request to IT:
- Location & Compatibility:
Review the VIU software list to see if the required software is already installed in a classroom on campus.
- List of Required Software:
Create a list of software (new or updates) you anticipate needing for your courses.
- Purchase & Budget:
If the requested software is new and has an associated cost, confirm that funding is approved.
To initiate the process, send an email to ithelp@viu.ca, detailing your request and any other relevant information. Our IT team will review your request and work with you to review the feasibility of your request or alternate options.
We thank you in advance for your early attention to this matter. By contacting IT before June 1st, we can provide a successful transition into the Fall semester.
