There are a couple of ways to install Find Me printers on Windows computers. Click on the header below to expand the instructions for your the desired method.
Please note that when you try to print, you will be asked to provide your VIU credentials, and you need to be connected to the VIU-Secure wireless network.
Install printer using the RUN dialog box - (Required for Windows11)

Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.

Type \\printserve.viu.ca into the "Open:" text box.

Click OK to initiate the connection.

Enter your VIU Computer account credentials when prompted. Make sure to prefix your username with viu\
Students: Use viu\ followed by your student number (e.g. viu\123456789)
Employees: Use viu\ followed by your username (e.g. viu\doej)
- Click in the "Remember my credentials" checkbox. This step is crucial to ensure seamless communication with the printer in future sessions.

Click OK to establish the connection.

Locate the "FindMe" printer you want to print to from the list and right-click it.

Click "Connect."

If a User Account Control popup window appears, click "Yes" to allow your computer to install the necessary printer driver.

Once the printer setup completes, you can try printing a test document to the recently added printer to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
