Images

  • Ensure that all images are copyright free or are used in compliance with the license terms described on the page where the image was acquired. An image or graphic used on the website must fall under one of the following categories:

    • your own work or VIU's
    • freely licensed
    • in the public domain
    • meet fair dealing (fair use) criteria

  • Ensure that a Waiver Release Form on record for any identifiable individuals in photos.

  • Ensure uploaded images have been colour-corrected, cropped, and image and file size optimized for the web. 
    • file size must be less than 100MB
    • allowed file types: png, gif, jpg, jpeg
    • Images must be larger than 300 x 200 pixels

  • When uploading images, add meaningful and descriptive alternative text for each image to ensure Web Accessibility and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Video

  • Videos must be embedded and not inserted directly into the Drupal site.

  • To embed video on the website:

    • Submit a Job Request to Strategic Marketing to upload your desired content to the official VIU YouTube channel.
    • From the WYSIWYG editor in Drupal, you need to:
      • click on the Media browser icon (looks like a picture)
      • click the Web tab
      • paste the YouTube URL into the File URL or media resource field
