Managing Teams Calling Call Queues, Voicemail, Call Display and Dial-By-Name using AMA

Introduction

With the wide adoption of Teams Calling at VIU, administrators for each department are tasked to make sure that users are added properly to the right resources to make sure that calls are routed and displayed properly. This guide will function as a resource for anyone tasked with administering their department's phone numbers and voice mail.

Important Note:These instructions are intended for departmental admins only. If you have any questions or need to be added to the right admin group for managing any of the above Teams Calling resources, Contact VIU IT Services using the link below:

Adding or removing users to a Teams Calling related resource

Teams Calling uses a network resource called a Distribution List (DL) to manage features like call queue membership, voice mail access, call display, and dial-by-name.   Adding or removing users  to and from these DLs is done via a tool called AMA. Full instructions on how to add or remove users from Teams Calling DLs can be found at the link below:

What does a Teams Calling resource look like in AMA?

Teams Calling relies heavily on Distribution Lists to control call flow and behavior.   There are four main DL types used in Teams Calling, and their naming conventions and usage are outlined below:

Shared Calling/Call Display

DL_SC_CallDisplay_[DeptName]

Controls which department number is used when calling out and which caller ID is displayed.

Outbound caller ID presentation.

Voicemail

DL_VM_[DeptName]
