DNS Settings on Windows
If the DNS settings are not set up to obtain addresses automatically, you may have difficulty connecting to VIU networks (VIU-Secure, VIU-Guest, VIU's VPN). You can find information for connecting to the VIU Networks on the following articles:
If you are still unable to connect after following the instructions on the above articles, or IT is asking you to check your DNS Settings, please refer to the steps below.
- On your keyboard, push the Windows [⊞] + [R] keys at the same time
- In the field of the pop up, type ncpa.cpl and press [Enter] on the keyboard or 'OK' on the screen
- In the screen showing all your network connections, right-click the relevant VIU network
- Click on 'Properties'
- Double-click the option closest to "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4)"
- Select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
- Click 'OK' and retry connecting to the VIU network
