How do I use Company Portal?

What is Company Portal?

Company Portal is an app that allows IT to deliver and update software applications across campus. It also allows you to install a variety of licensed software, updates, and plug-ins on your own computer without having to contact IT for assistance.

Note: On older VIU issued laptops, the Company Portal is referred to as the Software Center. If you cannot find the Company Portal on your device please refer to this ARTICLE

How Do I Install Software?

  1. Click on Start

  2. In the search box, type in "Company Portal" without the quotes

  3. Click on Company Portal to open it

  4. Click on the Apps icon from the menu on the left to show all available applications (see below)

  5. Find the application you'd like to install, then click on it.
    Choose App

  6. Click Install and the installation process will begin
    Note: Some software may require additional configuration or licensing to use. Check the description of the software for any additional steps that need to be followed.

  7. Note: If you only see "Reinstall" as an option, you already have the software installed.

How do I see what software is installed?

  1. Click on Start

  2. In the search box, type in "Company Portal" without the quotes

  3. Click on "Company Portal"

  4. Click on the Downloads & updates icon from the menu on the left. This will show all software installed on the computer.

How do I uninstall software?

It is currently not possible to uninstall software using Company Portal.

Why can't I find Company Portal?

If you are on a VIU-issued computer and can't find company portal, it is possible that your computer is using Software Center.
